Roots of Resilience: 2025 HBCU Tour
The 2025 tour will emphasize both the deep historical roots of HBCUs and the resilience of Black culture, while also highlighting the historical sites and museums that will be explored during the tour. It speaks to the enduring legacy and strength of the institutions and the history being honored during the trip.
Mission:
Throughout Proverbs we are taught to gain wisdom, knowledge, understanding and instruction. Subsequently, the mission of the college tour is to support our youth as they pursue knowledge and instruction by exposing them to the options available to them after high school. ~Proverbs 16:16

About The HBCU Tour
At Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church (FMBC), we recognize the power of representation and the impact it has on the academic and personal growth of our youth. The FMBC college tour is designed to give students the opportunity to explore Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) because of their rich history of academic excellence and cultural relevance. We believe that when students see others who look like them succeeding in these spaces, it fosters a sense of belonging and inspires them to reach for their highest potential.
This tour provides an immersive experience for students to walk through the vibrant academic halls and interact with current students and faculty. Students gain a deeper understanding of the diverse academic programs available to them, whether they are interested in STEM, the arts, business, social sciences, etc. The exposure to different campus cultures allows students to assess which environment best aligns with their learning style, career aspirations, and personal values. The tour also offers insights into student organizations, leadership opportunities, and the “home away from home,” support system that make each institution unique.
In addition to exploring academic programs, our tour emphasizes the African American culture and history. This ensures that students are exposed to the rich legacies and traditions that have shaped these institutions. Students will learn about the significant contributions of Black scholars, leaders, and activists who have paved the way in academia, customs, and beyond. By visiting historical and cultural landmarks, students are able to connect with the history of African American roots, resilience, and achievement. Our goal is to reinforce the importance of making informed decisions about their individual educational paths and help them realize their unique potential as the next generation of leaders, scholars, and change-makers.
